Get found when your customers search.
When a homeowner in your area needs your service, they search, and they hire someone on the first page. Local SEO is the work that makes that someone you. The map pack, the organic results, the reviews, all built so the calls come to you instead of the competitor who showed up first.
Your next customer is searching right now.
Almost nobody flips through a phone book or asks around anymore. When a pipe bursts, a roof leaks, or a homeowner finally books that project, they pull out their phone and search. Whoever ranks in that moment, in the map pack and the results right under it, gets the call. Everyone below the fold might as well not exist. The problem for most contractors is not that they do bad work. It is that they are invisible in that exact moment. Their Google Business Profile is half set up, their website was never built to rank, and they have a handful of old reviews. So the calls go to whoever bothered to get found, even if that company is worse at the actual job and driving in from twenty minutes away. Local SEO fixes that. It makes you the business that shows up when it counts, in the specific towns you actually serve, so the work close to home comes to you.
A contractor's Google calls, 5 a month to 20 after local SEO.
The pieces that get you found.
Local SEO is not one thing, it is a few connected pieces working together. Here is what I build and manage.
Google Business Profile
The single highest-leverage piece. Right category, active posts and photos, steady reviews, and info that matches your site, so you land in the map pack at the top of the page.
On-site SEO
A fast website built so Google can read it, with the page structure, speed, and setup that let you rank for the services you offer.
Local content and city pages
Real pages for the specific towns you serve, so you rank in each one instead of hoping a single generic page covers your whole area.
Reviews and citations
A steady flow of Google reviews and consistent business listings, the signals that tell Google and homeowners you are the real, trusted local choice.
How a Google search actually becomes a booked job.
Local SEO is not abstract. Every ranking is one link in a chain that ends with your phone ringing, and each link is something I build and control.
A homeowner searches
Someone nearby types "roofer near me" or "emergency plumber" into their phone. This is the moment the job is up for grabs, and it happens hundreds of times a month in your area.
The map pack sets the shortlist
Google shows three businesses in the map at the top. If you are not one of them, you are fighting for scraps below the fold. Your Google Business Profile is what puts you in that three.
Reviews win the tap
Faced with three choices, the homeowner taps the one with the most recent, highest-rated reviews. A steady review habit is what tips that choice to you instead of the competitor.
The call comes in
They call from the profile or land on a fast site that makes calling effortless. Miss it and they dial the next result, which is why lead-response is built in, not bolted on.
Follow-up closes it
Fast, professional follow-up turns that call into a booked job instead of a maybe. This is the point of the whole thing, not the ranking, the job on the calendar.
The job earns the next one
A review request after the work feeds the cycle, lifting your rankings and winning the next homeowner comparing their three options. Local SEO compounds this way.
Your Google Business Profile is the center of it.
If you do only one thing for local SEO, fix your Google Business Profile. For most local service searches, the map pack, that block of three businesses with the little map, sits right at the top, above the regular results. Your profile is what ranks there, and it is usually where a contractor gets the fastest, biggest win. Most profiles are half done: the wrong primary category, no recent photos, a thin trickle of reviews, and details that do not match the website. Cleaning that up, then keeping it active and building reviews, is often what moves you from buried to visible in a matter of weeks. I get the profile right, connect it properly to your site so the two reinforce each other, and build the review habit that keeps it climbing. If you want the deep version, my Google Business Profile checklist walks through it, and this guide covers getting reviews the right way.
What the first 90 days of local SEO looks like.
No black box, no monthly invoice and a shrug. Here is the honest order of the work and roughly when each piece starts paying off, so you always know what you are getting.
Audit and Google Business Profile
I audit where you actually stand, then fix your profile's category, information, photos, and posts and clean up wrong listings. This is where the fastest wins usually show up.
On-site SEO foundation
Your website gets the structure, speed, and setup Google needs to rank it, matched to your profile so the two reinforce each other instead of pulling apart.
City pages and reviews
Real pages for the towns you serve go up, and the review habit kicks in. These are the two signals that build local trust and widen your coverage.
Compound and track
Content and reviews keep building while I track what is turning into calls, and we double down on what books jobs. From here it compounds month over month.
No guarantees, no vanity metrics, no games.
What to run from
- Guaranteed first-page rankings (nobody controls Google)
- Reports full of impressions and clicks, no mention of jobs
- Cheap tricks that rank fast, then get you penalized
- An account run from a call center that has never been here
Working with me
- The foundational work that gives you the best real shot
- Measured in booked calls and jobs, in plain language
- White-hat work built to last, not to blow up on you later
- One local person who knows your market and runs all of it
Real Google data from a contractor I do local SEO for.
Anonymized, but real. This is one home service contractor's actual Google Search Console and Business Profile numbers as the local SEO work compounded, not a screenshot of a single lucky ranking. This is the kind of growth the pieces above are built to produce over months.
Google Search Console: 64,700 impressions and 498 clicks, climbing steadily over five months.
Clicks up 75% and impressions up 327% period over period.
Google Business Profile views up 353%, most of them mobile searches near the job.

The local SEO mistakes that keep contractors invisible.
Most contractors are not losing local search because of bad work. They are losing it to a short list of fixable mistakes, and these are the ones I see over and over.
Wrong Google Business Profile category
The most common one by far. A wrong primary category quietly keeps you out of the map pack for the exact searches that matter most.
A thin trickle of reviews
A handful of old reviews loses to the competitor with a steady, recent flow. With no system to ask, you fall a little further behind every month.
A website Google cannot rank
A slow, poorly structured site, or a one-page builder, gives Google almost nothing to rank you for. The foundation has to be right first.
One generic page for every town
Hoping a single page ranks you across a whole region. Real pages for the specific towns you serve are how you actually show up in each one.
Inconsistent name, address, phone
Your details listed differently across the web confuse Google and cost you trust. They have to match everywhere, down to the punctuation.
No idea which calls came from search
If you are not tracking what local SEO produces, you cannot tell what is working. Measuring the calls is how the whole thing stays honest.

Working with Zack was one of the best things I could have done for my business. His creative content has significantly increased my leads, and the conversations and brainstorm sessions have been just as instrumental in my business's growth. Can't recommend enough.
Zachary did a phenomenal job on my website. My goal was to gain added SEO, which he achieved, and as a result more organic traffic came to my real estate website. Thank you for the quickness on delivery, he completed it in about a week.
Zack helped me build not only a website but a tool. This helps me stay organized on a daily basis... I couldn't have envisioned what I wanted more accurately than what he was able to deliver. I would recommend Zack for your project in a heartbeat.
I had an amazing experience working with Zack on my website and marketing. From start to finish, everything was handled.
Straight answers.
What is local SEO for a contractor?
It is the work that gets your business to show up when someone in your area searches for the service you offer. For a contractor that means ranking in the Google map pack and the results below it. It comes down to a well-optimized Google Business Profile, a website built to rank, steady reviews, and content tied to the towns you serve. Done right, it turns local searches into calls without paying per click.
How long does local SEO take to work?
It is a build, not a switch. Some things, like fixing your Google Business Profile, can move the needle in weeks. Ranking organically for competitive terms usually takes a few months of consistent work, because Google needs to see your business is real, active, and trusted. Anyone promising instant first-page rankings is either lying or using a trick that gets you penalized later.
Can you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and be careful with anyone who does. Nobody controls Google, so a guaranteed ranking is a red flag. What I can promise is the foundational work that gives you the best shot: a fast, properly built site, an optimized Google profile, real reviews, and local content, all measured by booked calls and jobs, not a vanity ranking screenshot.
How is my Google Business Profile part of local SEO?
It is the center of it. For most local searches the map pack sits at the top, above the regular results, and your Google Business Profile is what ranks there. Getting the category right, keeping it active, building reviews, and matching it to your website are what lift you into that map pack. For a contractor, the profile is often the single highest-leverage thing to fix first.
How do you measure whether local SEO is working?
By calls and booked jobs, not impressions and rankings. Rankings and traffic are how you get there, but they are not the point. I track where you show up for the searches that matter, and more importantly whether the phone is ringing and those calls are turning into work. If the reporting is a wall of vanity metrics with no connection to jobs, it is hiding something.
